What each tool does with your file

Tool by tool: what stays on your device, what downloads once, what works offline, and exactly what our analytics is told. Built from the tools’ own code.

The short version

Your files stay on your device

Every one of our 24 free tools does its work inside your browser. Here is the whole picture in three lines; the detail for each tool is further down.

23 of 24 never send your file anywhere

Your photo, PDF, text or recording is read from your own disk or camera and handled in the page. It is never put into a network request. The one exception is Countdown, and only for a countdown you choose to publish, because a shared link needs somewhere to live.

What does leave is small, and never your file

When you finish using a tool, one anonymous message tells our counter which tool was used. Google Analytics records the page view and the options you picked from the page’s own lists. Neither is ever sent a file name, a size, a count or anything you typed. The full list, fonts included, is in the table below.

Some tools download a helper once

7 tools fetch a larger engine the first time you need it, such as the AI model in the background remover. It comes from this site, not a third party, and it runs on your device. Each card below says what and how big.

On every tool page

Everything that leaves your device

This is the complete list for every tool here, apart from publishing a countdown. If a request isn’t in this table, the page doesn’t make it.

Your file or textNothing. It is handled in the page and never put into a network request
Our usage counterOne message, {"tool":"<tool name>"}, when you finish using a tool, at most once a minute. Nothing else is in it. It exists so the usage figure on each page is a real one
Google AnalyticsThe page view, plus the parameters listed for each tool below. Google Analytics sets its own cookies. Block it and every tool works exactly the same
Parameters any tool can sendtool_slug: which tool it was
kind: which kind of action, such as a single download, a ZIP or a copy
code: a short error code, such as too_big, when something fails
reason: a short error code or message when something fails
phase: which step an error happened in
stage: which step an error happened in
saved: whether you pinned the tool to your list on this device
device_uses: how many times this browser has used the tool, counted on the device itself
standalone: whether it was opened as an installed app
Google FontsThe page asks fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com for its typefaces, as every page on this site does. Google sees that request, not your files
Cloudflare and FrankfurterOnly on Webcam Test, Microphone Test, Speaker & Headphone Test, which show product prices: the page asks Cloudflare which country you are in and Frankfurter for the day’s exchange rates, so the prices appear in your currency. Nothing about your device or the test is in either request. Block them and the prices stay in rupees
This siteThe page, its code and any one-time engine come from nopturnia.com. Your browser keeps a copy so the tools work offline. That copy is code, never your files

Don’t take our word for it

Check it yourself in a minute

Any desktop browser can show you every request a page makes. This is how to watch a tool not upload your file.

Open the network panel

Open a tool, press F12 (or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and choose the Network tab. Press the clear button so the list is empty.

Use the tool

Add a file and press the main button, exactly as you normally would. Watch the list while it works.

Read the list

You will see code from nopturnia.com, one small message to tools-api, and Google’s analytics and fonts. Open any of them: none carries your file.

Turn off your wifi

Load the tool once, go offline, then use it again. It still works, which an upload-based tool cannot do. The cards above say which tools need one first use online.

How this page stays true

Built from the code, not written from memory

Each time the tools are rebuilt, a script reads every analytics call in every tool’s code. If a tool sends a parameter this page does not describe, or this page describes one the tool no longer sends, the build stops until the two agree. The rule they agree on: analytics may hear which options you picked, which buttons you used and whether it worked, and never anything about your file, your text or your measurements.

“Checked by our offline test” marks the 18 tools that an automated test opens with the network switched off and uses for real. The other offline lines are each tool’s own claim. Last checked against the code on 1 November 2026.
