Why this converter can’t leak your PDF

Most free PDF converters upload your document to a server, convert it there, and give you a download link. If that PDF was a payslip, a rent agreement or a passport scan, a stranger’s machine has now held a copy of it. This one works differently, and you can verify that yourself.

Zero uploads

The converter itself is downloaded to your browser once. From then on it reads your PDF straight from your own disk. Your file never enters a network request, so there is no copy of it anywhere for us to keep, lose or be compelled to hand over.

Nothing stored

The PDF and the images it produces live only in this tab’s memory. Close the tab and both are gone immediately — no processing queue, no temporary folder, no “we delete files after an hour” promise you have to take on trust.

No account

No sign-up, no email address, no page limit, no watermark stamped across your images, and no paid tier that unlocks the bit you actually needed.

To be precise about what does leave your device — because “100% private” is easy to say and worth checking. Two things, neither of them your file:

1. When a conversion finishes, this page sends one anonymous message to our counter saying “pdf-to-image was used”. No file, no file name, no page count, nothing identifying you. It exists so the usage number above is a real one rather than something we invented.
2. Google Analytics records the page view and that a conversion happened, the same as on every other page of this site. We don’t send it anything about your document. You can block it and the tool works exactly the same.

Your PDF and the images made from it are in neither. They never enter a network request at all — and unlike a promise, that is something you can check. Turn off your wifi, reload this page and convert a file anyway. It still works. No upload-based converter can pass that test.

PDF to image, answered

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using code that was downloaded to your device. Your PDF is read from your own disk and never placed in a network request. The simplest proof: disconnect from the internet and convert a file — it still works.

What image formats can I export?

PNG and JPG. Choose PNG for pages with text, tables, line art or screenshots — it is lossless, so nothing gets blurry. Choose JPG when the pages are mainly photographs and file size matters more than the last few percent of sharpness.

Is there a file size or page limit?

There is no page limit, and no artificial cap of the kind paid converters use. The real limit is your device’s memory: files above 50 MB will be noticeably slower, and the tool stops at 150 MB rather than letting the tab run out of memory and crash. For very long documents, use the page range under advanced options.

Will the images look as sharp as the PDF?

A PDF stores text as instructions for drawing letters, so it stays sharp at any zoom; an image is a fixed grid of pixels. The quality setting decides how fine that grid is. “High” (144 DPI) matches how the page looks on screen. Pick “Print” (288 DPI) if the image will be printed or zoomed into, or set an exact DPI up to 600 under advanced options.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Open Advanced options and enter a range such as 1-4, 7, 12. Everything else is skipped, which also makes a long document convert far faster.

Why is my PNG transparent instead of white?

Many PDFs draw no background at all — the white you see in a PDF reader is the reader’s own page colour. PNG preserves that transparency faithfully, which can look odd when pasted into Word or PowerPoint. Tick Add a white background to PNGs under advanced options, or export as JPG, which has no transparency.

Do I need to sign up or pay?

No. There is no account, no email capture, no watermark and no paid tier. Nopturnia funds itself through affiliate links on its product buying guides, not through these tools.

My PDF is password-protected. Can you open it?

Not as it stands. Open the file in your usual PDF reader, save a copy without the password, and convert that. A tool that guessed at protected files would be a very different kind of tool.
