What this site collects, feature by feature
Most of Nopturnia needs nothing from you. A few features only work if something is stored on our side, so this page lists each of them: what is stored, why, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed.
Effective 2 October 2026 · Replaces the policy dated 16 July 2026
Summary
The short version
- There are no accounts and no passwords. Nothing on the site needs a sign-up.
- We don't sell or rent personal data, and the site runs no advertising networks.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and clicks.
- What you type into the chat assistant is sent to OpenAI to write the reply, and we keep a log of the conversation.
- Files you open in our free tools are processed in your browser. They are never uploaded.
- Buy links go to Amazon, which pays us a commission if you buy. Once you are on Amazon, Amazon's privacy notice applies.

Controller
Who runs this site
Nopturnia (nopturnia.com) is an independent consumer-tech site run by Mrigank from Delhi, India. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Nopturnia. For anything about your data, including a grievance under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, write to [email protected].
This policy covers the website only. Our Android apps have their own policies, listed on the Our Apps page.
Every visit
What is collected when you visit any page
Google Analytics
Every page loads Google Analytics 4. It tells us which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and which features get used. It also records clicks on our Amazon links (which product, and where on the page the link was). To do this, Google sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*). It receives your IP address, uses it to estimate a city and country, and records your device type, browser and screen size. We only see aggregated reports, never anything that identifies you by name. Google's handling is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block it with your browser's tracking protection or Google's opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
Hosting and network logs
The site is hosted on Netlify, and its live features run on Cloudflare. Like any web server, both see your IP address and browser details on each request and keep short-lived logs for security and reliability. We don't use these logs to identify visitors.
Currency detection
To show prices in your currency, your browser asks Cloudflare (cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace) for your two-letter country code. The country is kept in your browser for the session. If you pick a currency yourself, that choice is saved in a cookie called nopturnia_currency. Exchange rates are fetched from the public Frankfurter API. Nothing about you is stored on our side.
Content loaded from other services
Product photos load from Amazon's image servers, fonts from Google Fonts, and some code libraries from jsDelivr and cdnjs. Loading anything from a server shows that server your IP address. These requests carry no information from us about who you are.
Chat assistant
The chat assistant
When you send a message in the product chat, it goes to our server and then to OpenAI, whose models write the reply. OpenAI's API terms say that, by default, data sent through the API is not used to train its models. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor abuse.
For every message, we keep a log so that we can find bad answers and improve them. The log contains:
- your message, our reply, and the products we showed;
- the page you were on and the page that referred you;
- your approximate country and region (Cloudflare provides these; we don't store your IP address);
- whether you are on a mobile or a desktop;
- a random device ID and conversation ID. Your browser creates these; they are not linked to your name or email.
Your browser also keeps the current conversation so that it is still there when you come back. Please don't type personal details, such as your phone number, address or order IDs, into the chat. The assistant doesn't need them, and anything you type is logged.
Pricedle
Pricedle, the daily price game
- Display name. To play, you choose a display name. It appears publicly on the leaderboards, so don't use your real full name unless you want to.
- Game data. We store a random player ID with your guesses, scores and the time of each answer. These are needed to score the game, build the leaderboards and keep your streak.
- Email address (optional). After a game, you can add an email address so your streak can move to another device. We use it only for that. We send no newsletters, and we never share or sell the address.
- Feedback. If you send feedback from the game, the form sends your rating, your message, your display name, score and streak through Netlify Forms. We receive these by email.
- Your browser keeps your player profile, so clearing site data on this device signs you out of that profile.
Notifications
Price alerts and push notifications
Three features can send you browser notifications: the Pricedle reminder, price-drop alerts on the watchlist, and countdown reminders. All three are off until you turn them on and your browser asks for permission.
- What we store. We store the push "subscription" your browser gives us, which is a delivery address at your browser maker's push service (Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft). With it we store what you asked to be reminded about: the products on your watchlist with the price drop you chose, or the countdown and the reminder time.
- What the push carries. The push message has no content. It only wakes up our code in your browser, which then fetches the notification text directly from us. The push service never sees what the notification says.
- How to stop them. Turn off the reminder or alert on the site, or block notifications for nopturnia.com in your browser settings. If a subscription stops working, we delete it.
Watchlist items are tied to a random ID, not to your name or email.
Free tools
The free tools
All of the file tools process your files inside your browser: the PDF tools, the image converters, the background remover, text recognition, the passport photo maker and the QR scanner. Your files, photos and camera images are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Some tools download a code library or a model the first time you use them. That download goes from the library's host to you; nothing goes the other way.
Two things touch our servers:
- Usage counts. When you use a tool, we add one to that tool's total. That number is all we keep. To stop abuse, the counter briefly holds a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address, combined with the day's date. It is deleted after an hour, can't be turned back into your address, and can't be matched across days.
- Countdown timer. In "Just for me" mode, countdowns stay in your browser. If you choose "Share with others", we store what is needed to show the countdown to anyone with the link: the title, end time, time zone, style, and the optional reveal message and link. Shared countdowns are deleted automatically 90 days after they end. Creating one uses the same one-hour scrambled-IP limit.
Contact
The contact form and email
The contact form collects your name, email address, subject and message, and the tool you came from if you came from one. Netlify Forms stores it and notifies us by email. We use it only to reply to you, and we delete it if you ask. The same applies if you email [email protected] directly.
Affiliate links
Amazon and affiliate links
Nopturnia is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and the Amazon Associates programmes for other Amazon marketplaces. These are affiliate advertising programmes that let sites earn fees by linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Our buy links carry a tag that tells Amazon the visit came from us. When you click one, Amazon sets its own cookies to record that, and from then on Amazon's privacy notice applies. Amazon tells us only which products were ordered and the commission due. We never learn your name, address or what else you bought.
On your device
Cookies and browser storage
We don't show a cookie banner, because the only cookies we set are for things you asked for, such as your currency choice. Google Analytics sets its own cookies, described above.
| What | Kept in | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Currency choice | Cookie | Shows prices in the currency you picked |
| Detected country | Session storage | Picks a default currency; cleared when you close the tab |
| Chat conversation, device ID and session ID | Local storage | Keeps your conversation; groups log entries |
| Pricedle profile, email flag and reminder setting | Local storage | Keeps you in the game on this device |
| Watchlist, saved tools and private countdowns | Local storage | Remembers your choices without an account |
| Offline copies of pages | Service worker cache | Makes the site and tools load fast and work offline |
_ga, _ga_* | Cookies (Google) | Analytics, as described above |
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of the above from your device.
Retention
How long data is kept
- Chat logs: until we no longer need them to improve the assistant. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
- Pricedle profile and scores: for as long as the game runs, because they make up the leaderboards. A profile and its email are deleted on request.
- Watchlist items and push subscriptions: until you remove them, or until the browser reports that the subscription has expired.
- Shared countdowns: 90 days after the countdown ends.
- Scrambled IP values for rate limits: one hour.
- Contact messages: in our inbox and Netlify's form dashboard until we delete them. We delete them sooner if you ask.
- Google Analytics: Google keeps event data for the retention period set in our account (14 months at most).
Your rights
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. These rights come from India's DPDP Act, the GDPR in the EU and UK, and similar laws elsewhere. Write to [email protected]. Because there are no accounts, it helps to tell us what to look for: your Pricedle display name or email, or roughly when you used the chat and what you asked. We will confirm what we found and what we deleted.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent (notifications, the optional email, forms) and on our legitimate interest in running and improving a free site (analytics, chat logs, abuse limits). You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Children
Nopturnia is a general-audience site and is not directed at children. If you are under 18, please don't give us an email address or send the contact form without a parent's involvement. If you think a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
Changes to this policy
When we add a feature that collects something new, we update this page before the feature goes live and change the date at the top. Earlier versions are available on request from [email protected].
