Amazon has published its headline sale prices ahead of the public open. A deal price only means something next to what the same listing has actually sold for, so each one is set against the lowest price we have recorded for it since July.
Amazon has revealed 16 sale prices we could read. We hold a price record for 13 of them. 3 are below anything we have recorded, 5 get there only with a bank card or coupon, 5 are no cheaper than the product has already sold for, and 2 of those are dearer than in August.

Buy now or wait — by category
The honest answer differs sharply by category. These calls read today’s prices against each product’s own record, and say plainly where the evidence is thin.
Buy with the card
Phone discounts are still small. The bank card is what makes this the moment.
- The best phone saving today is ₹6,667 on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra — 4.9% below its own 30-day average, and its lowest recorded price.
- The Galaxy S25 Ultra is 3.2% below its own average, also at its lowest recorded price.
- Real phone cuts stay in single digits, so the confirmed 10% SBI discount is worth more than the price drop itself — and it only applies while the sale runs.
- Of the phone prices Amazon revealed on 7 October that we could check, two were dearer than in August. Check the price before the card at checkout.
Worth buying now
Still the biggest real rupee savings on the page.
- The HP Victus with an RTX 4050 is ₹21,467 below its own 30-day average — 15.2%, and its lowest recorded price.
- The Lenovo LOQ with an RTX 5060 is ₹14,286 below its average, 7.8%, also at its lowest recorded price.
- At the top end, the MacBook Pro with M5 Max is ₹29,951 below its average — only 5.1%, but a real cut on a machine that rarely moves.
- The SBI discount is capped per order, so on a laptop this price the drop already beats anything the card adds.

TVs have moved the most since the sale opened — three we review are at their lowest recorded price.
- The Xiaomi 55-inch FX mini-LED is ₹5,000 below its own 30-day average — 11.8%, and its lowest recorded price.
- The Philips 65-inch 4K from our live-sport guide is ₹5,483 below its average, 9.1%, also at its lowest recorded price.
- Samsung's 55-inch OLED is 4.1% below its average and at its lowest recorded price — small in percentage, ₹4,297 in rupees.
- Amazon’s 7 October reveals for 43-inch LG and TCL sets beat our record only with a bank or coupon offer, so check the price before the card.
Already worth buying
Real discounts on the good gear; the empty badges are on the cheap stuff.
- Marshall's Major V headphones are ₹3,300 below their own 30-day average — 23.9%, at its lowest recorded price.
- Sony's WH-1000XM6 is 6.1% below its own average, also at its lowest recorded price.
- boAt fills our ‘discounts that aren’t’ list: the Aavante 2.2 soundbar is badged 78% off while sitting 18.5% above its own average.
- The boAt Wave Sigma 3 is badged 83% off and is still above its own 30-day average. Ignore the percentage.
Robot vacuums only
Robot vacuums have a real cut. Almost nothing else in the home category clears our bar.
- The ECOVACS DEEBOT N30 Plus is ₹3,164 below its own 30-day average — 10.2%, at its lowest recorded price.
- The Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 is 6.0% below its own average, also at its lowest recorded price.
- Exchange and No Cost EMI stack best on large appliances, but check the exchange value after the condition questions, not the headline figure.

Day one
Prime early access is where scarce stock goes
- 11Prime early access opened at 00:00 IST on 7 October, 24 hours before everyone else, and the scarce deals on high-demand products go first.
- 12Add to cart early, then check the seller and the warranty line - sale listings change sellers.
- 13Compare the one-shot price against the No Cost EMI total before choosing EMI. On some listings it costs more.
- 14Claim the Amazon Pay cashback: 35% back, capped at ₹150. Small, but it costs nothing.
Mid-sale
What to watch once the noise settles
- 21Ignore the badge percentage entirely. Check the price against its own 30-day record instead.
- 22Exchange values are quoted at the maximum for a flawless unit. The real offer arrives after the condition questions, and is deducted at checkout.
- 23A long sale drags its own discounted prices into the 30-day average, so a product can stop looking cheap while still being cheap. Check the 90-day low too.
Don't
The four traps
- 31Do not buy an accessory because the percentage is large. ₹300 off a ₹700 cable is not a win.
- 32Do not trust a ‘lowest price ever’ claim built on a handful of days of history.
- 33Do not assume the headline bank percentage applies - it is capped per card, per order.
- 34Do not buy a category you were not already shopping for. The sale is very good at inventing needs.
05 The mechanics
How the sale actually works
Most of the money is not in the headline discount. It is in what stacks on top of it, and in the two or three terms that quietly cap what you get.

Prime early access

Already open. The scarce deals on high-demand products usually go in these 24 hours, so if you are buying one specific thing, the membership costs less than the deal you will miss. Amazon says Prime members also get up to 10% extra on top of the card offer.

Bank instant discount
Confirmed10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards, including EMI
Confirmed for 2026 in Amazon’s own announcement, which ends the yearly guessing: SBI again, not the HDFC deal some pre-announcement reporting expected. It is the single biggest stackable saving, but it is capped per order, so it is worth most on a mid-priced basket and least on a flagship laptop. Prime members are promised up to 10% extra on top.

Discounts that aren’t
Amazon’s badge is computed against a list price the seller supplies, which is frequently far above anything the product has actually sold for. A 64% badge on an inflated list price and a real 3% cut look identical on a search page. We are an Amazon affiliate and earn from the links above, which is exactly why this section exists: publishing only the flattering half would make the first list worth nothing.
27.8% of the products Amazon is badging as deals right now — 716 of 2,580 we hold enough history for — are priced at or above their own 30-day average.

Five gates a product must clear

One limitation, stated before anyone else points it out: a long sale eventually pulls its own discounted prices into the 30-day average it is measured against, so three weeks in, a product that has been cheap the whole time stops looking cheap by this test. It is why the third call below is scored on the sale’s best day rather than its average.
Who else does this, and where they stop
Price history is the evidence here, not the point. Amazon publishes its own chart now and several trackers hold deeper data than we do. What none of them does is tell you which product to buy: every item on this page comes from a guide we wrote, tested and stand behind, and the price record is how we decide whether today is the day.

Amazon India added a 30- and 90-day price chart inside its shopping app in November 2025, reachable from under the price on a product page.
Where it stops: One product at a time, app only, and it does not tell you whether the product is worth buying.

Price History and other trackers
Dedicated trackers hold far longer series than we do - 365 days against our 74 - plus price alerts and browser extensions. Their own Great Indian Festival analysis found 20% of products marked up before the sale and 73% genuinely beating prior prices.

Three calls, and how you can check them
A tracker that makes a dozen hedged predictions cannot be scored on any of them. This page makes exactly three, each falsifiable, each measured against data we publish. When the sale closes I will write down what actually happened next to what I said would happen — including the ones I get wrong, which is the only part that makes the rest worth reading.

How it is measured: A Nopturnia estimate, anchored on Navratri: the sale has opened in the run-up to Sharad Navratri in past years, and Sharad Navratri 2026 begins on 11 October. Deliberately a band rather than a date, because Amazon had announced nothing when this call was logged on 3 September and a precise date would have been invented precision.

What happened: Amazon announced on 20 September that the sale opens 8 October 2026, inside the 20 September – 10 October band. Whether the sale actually changes anything
Not yet scoredEven at the deepest point of the Great Indian Festival, more than half of the products Amazon badges as deals will still be priced at or above their own 30-day average.
How it is measured: Share of catalogue rows carrying an Amazon deal badge whose current price is >= their own 30-day average, among rows with at least 7 days of history. Measured baseline on 3 September 2026, before the sale: 78.8% (1,304 of 1,654). Scored on the LOWEST daily share recorded across the sale, so the sale is judged at its best moment rather than its worst. Caveat stated on the page: a long sale pulls its own discounted prices into the 30-day average, which mechanically pushes rows back above it late in the window — this is why the call is scored on the minimum, not the mean. For context, Price History's own Great Indian Festival analysis reports 73% of products genuinely beating prior prices. That is not a contradiction - they measure against each product's recorded highs across a full year, we measure against a 30-day mean before the sale has started - but the two numbers answer different questions and ours should not be read as the whole picture.

Because a chart does not make a decision for you. Amazon's chart, and the dedicated trackers that hold longer records than we do, will tell you what a product cost last month. None of them will tell you whether it is the one to buy. Every product here comes from a guide we researched and published, so the price record is attached to an actual recommendation.
Against the product's own recent price, never against Amazon's list price. We record the price of everything in our catalogue once a day. A discount counts as real only when today's price is below that product's own 30-day average, and only where we hold at least seven days of history.
Amazon's badge is computed against a list price the seller supplies, which is frequently far above anything the product has actually sold for. A 64% badge against an inflated list price and a real 3% cut look identical on a search page. Ours is the second number.
Daily snapshots since 25 July 2026 - about ten weeks, which is shorter than the dedicated trackers and we say so. It is enough for a 30-day average and a 90-day low, and not enough to compare this year's sale against last year's. Where we cannot support a claim we show nothing.
It opened on 8 October 2026 and is still running — Prime members had 24 hours of early access from 00:00 IST on 7 October. Amazon has not announced an end date; the last two editions ran to 20 October and 29 October, and with Diwali on 8 November this year it may run longer. For context on how late this was: the sale opened on 22 September in 2022, 23 September in 2023 and 27 September in 2024.

Phones, TVs and home flipped to buy — the sale is live, so the card discount now applies, and TVs and robot vacuums reached their lowest recorded prices. The share of badged deals at or above their own 30-day average fell from 62.2% to 27.8%. That puts call 3 on course to miss: it said more than half would still be at or above average at the sale’s deepest point, and it is already below half.
