Best Budget Smartphones Under ₹15,000 in India 2026 — collage of top picks

Overview

India's most competitive price band

India's sub-₹15,000 smartphone segment is the most competitive in the world. In 2026, you can get a 5G phone with a 120Hz display, a 50MP camera, and a 6,000+ mAh battery without breaking the bank. The challenge is knowing which phone wins in your priority area — camera, battery, display, or performance.

This guide cuts through the noise with four picks under ₹15,000 and one stretch pick that costs ₹999 more but doubles the memory. Every phone listed has been evaluated against daily-use scenarios including gaming, photography, and battery endurance. Shopping with a bigger budget? See our wider roundup of the best budget smartphones up to ₹30,000 for more powerful options.

A note on prices. This price band has changed more than any other we track. When we re-checked every listing on 5 October 2026, all seven of our earlier picks had sold out or jumped past the budget — the NARZO 90x we used to recommend at ₹11,999 now lists above ₹20,000. Memory shortages are the cause, and they show in the specs: every 5G phone under ₹15,000 on Amazon.in now ships with 4GB of RAM, and AMOLED screens have left this bracket. Amazon.in sellers also price several of these phones ₹2,000–4,500 above their launch prices, so check the brand’s own store before you buy.

The cheapest 5G phone we would recommend on Amazon.in, sold by Amazon’s own retail partner rather than a reseller. You get a 120Hz screen, a 6000mAh battery, IP64 splash resistance and clean Android 16 with no ads. The 13MP camera is the obvious cut.

4.1 / 5 ₹13,999

The biggest screen and battery in this guide: a 6.9-inch 120Hz panel at 800 nits and a 6300mAh cell. It is the same phone as the Redmi A7 Pro 5G, which sells for ₹1,000 more on Amazon.in. Charging is a slow 15W, so a full top-up takes a while.

Samsung Galaxy A06 5G

4.2 / 5 ₹14,900

The one to keep longest. Samsung promises four Android upgrades and security patches until 2030, far beyond the rest here, plus IP54 protection and 25W charging. You pay for that with a 90Hz screen and a smaller 5000mAh battery than the Lava and POCO.

Lava Bold N4 Pro 5G smartphone with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage Lava

Lava Bold N4 Pro 5G (6GB + 128GB)

4.2 / 5 ₹15,999

Just over budget, and the only phone near this price with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That matters more than any spec here for keeping a phone three years. It shares the Bold N2’s chip and battery but adds a 50MP camera, for ₹999 over the line.

What to Look For

5G Band Support

Jio and Airtel run 5G standalone on band n78. Indian-market 5G phones support it, but check the listing if you buy an imported model.

Display Type

AMOLED has left this price band on Amazon.in — every pick here is an HD+ LCD. Judge brightness instead: the Moto g37 reaches 1050 nits, the POCO C85x 800.

Refresh Rate

120Hz makes scrolling and games feel noticeably smoother. Four of our five picks have it; the Galaxy A06 runs at 90Hz.

Fast Charging

Charging is slow at this price: 15–25W across this guide. The Galaxy A06 is fastest at 25W; the POCO C85x, with the biggest battery, is slowest at 15W.

RAM

6GB is the comfortable amount, but every 5G phone under ₹15,000 on Amazon.in now ships with 4GB. The Lava Bold N4 Pro, ₹999 over budget, is the cheapest 6GB option.

OS Updates

Samsung leads: the Galaxy A06 5G gets four Android upgrades and security patches until 2030. The others ship clean, recent Android but promise less.

Our Recommendation

The best all-rounder is the
Motorola Moto g37 5G

If we had to pick just one: the Moto g37 5G at ₹14,900. It has the fastest chip here (Dimensity 6400), the brightest screen at 1050 nits and 120Hz, and the toughest build, with IP64, Gorilla Glass 7i and a MIL-STD-810H rating. Every other phone in this guide wins its own category:

  • › Tightest budget: Lava Bold N2 5G — ₹12,998, sold by Amazon’s retail partner, with free service at home
  • › Best battery: POCO C85x 5G — 6300mAh and a 6.9-inch 120Hz screen
  • › Longest support: Samsung Galaxy A06 5G — four OS upgrades, security patches until 2030
  • › Worth stretching for: Lava Bold N4 Pro 5G — 6GB + 128GB for ₹999 over budget

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — 5G rollout in India's top 100 cities is largely complete and expanding rapidly to Tier 2 cities. Even if you don't need 5G today, buying a 5G-capable phone ensures it remains relevant for 3–4 years as networks mature. All picks in this guide are 5G-ready.
Motorola (Moto g37) wins on day-one hardware: a faster Dimensity 6400 chip, a brighter 120Hz screen and tougher glass. Samsung (Galaxy A06 5G) wins on longevity, with four Android upgrades and security patches until 2030, plus 25W charging. Choose Samsung if you keep phones four years or more, Motorola for the better phone today.
Under ₹15,000 on Amazon.in the chips are now Unisoc T8200 and T8300 and MediaTek Dimensity 6300 and 6400. The Dimensity 6400 in the Moto g37 is the fastest of them. The Unisoc phones handle calls, social apps and video comfortably but are the slowest in games.
6GB is the comfortable amount in 2026, but memory shortages have pushed every 5G phone under ₹15,000 on Amazon.in down to 4GB. Virtual RAM, which borrows storage, helps a little but is no substitute. If you keep phones three years or more, the ₹999 stretch to the 6GB Lava Bold N4 Pro is the best upgrade you can buy.
For casual games, yes. Free Fire and Call of Duty Mobile run on every phone here at low to medium settings. For BGMI and heavier titles, the Moto g37’s Dimensity 6400 is the best chip in this guide; the Unisoc-based Lava and POCO phones are better suited to lighter games.
