Every product here comes from a guide we published, and every figure is measured against that product’s own recorded price — never against Amazon’s list price.
Of everything we recommend across 17 buying guides, 24 are currently below their own 30-day average, and 18 are at the lowest price we have ever recorded for them. The biggest real saving today is ₹5,122 on the Nikon D7500 + 18-140mm.

Nothing in that category is below its own 30-day average today.
Ranked by rupees saved, not by percentage — a bigger percentage off a cheap accessory is not a better deal than ₹5,122 off something you were going to buy. Checked 10 Sep 2026 · daily price record kept since 25 Jul 2026.
02 The decision
The honest answer differs sharply by category. These calls read today’s prices against each product’s own record, and say plainly where the evidence is thin.
Phones are barely moving. The bank discount will beat today's price.
Small movements now, and this is where the discount cap bites least.
The one category discounting properly right now.
Thin discounts today, and the offers that matter are not running yet.
03 Before, during, after
Most of the money in this sale is lost to preparation, not to price. Four short lists.
Before the sale
Day one
Mid-sale
Don't
04 The mechanics
Most of the money is not in the headline discount. It is in what stacks on top of it, and in the two or three terms that quietly cap what you get.
24 hours before the sale opens
The genuinely scarce deals on high-demand products are usually gone before the public open. If you are buying one specific thing, the membership costs less than the deal you will miss.
10% on SBI cards in 2024 and 2025; HDFC in earlier years
The partner bank rotates year to year, and this is the single biggest stackable saving. Reporting for 2026 points at HDFC at up to 15%, but nothing is announced. Do not open a card on a rumour.
Typically a percentage up to a fixed rupee ceiling per card, per order
On a large purchase the headline percentage is not what you get. The cap is why a laptop rarely sees the full 10%, and it is stated in the offer terms, never on the banner.
Sale terms, every recent edition
Flat ₹100 cashback on a minimum order of ₹1,000
Small, but it stacks on top of the bank discount and costs nothing to claim.
Sale creative, 2025 edition
Quoted separately from the discount, and added on top
Exchange values are quoted at their absolute maximum for a flawless top model. The number you are actually offered after the condition questions is usually far lower, and it is deducted at checkout, not refunded later.
Sale creative, multiple editions
Offered across most large-ticket categories
"No cost" usually means the interest is converted into an upfront discount you then forgo. Check the total payable against the one-shot price before choosing it - on some listings the EMI route costs more.
| Category | Amazon’s claim | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Smartphones | up to 40% off | ‘Up to’ describes one SKU. Across the phones we track, today's best is 2.3%. |
| Electronics | up to 80% off | In our own data the deep percentages sit on sub-₹2,000 accessories, not on televisions or laptops. |
| Home appliances | up to 65% off | Amazon's strongest published claim, and the category where exchange and EMI genuinely stack. |
| Smart TVs and projectors | up to 65% off | Projectors are the display line we track: best today is 9.5% below its own average. |
| Fashion and beauty | 50-80% off | Outside what we track. We hold no price record here, so we can say nothing about it. |
These are Amazon's own headline numbers for last year, quoted verbatim. Every one is an "up to": it describes the single deepest discount in the category, not a typical one, and it is measured against a list price rather than against what the product has been selling for. That gap is what the rest of this page measures. Amazon's own 2025 announcement
05 The record
When the sale has opened in past years, who says so, and how sure we are. Where sources disagree the row says so rather than quietly picking one.
| Year | Prime early access | Sale opens | Ends | Confidence & source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | — | 22 Sep 2022 | — | Strong Press reporting |
| 2023 | — | 23 Sep 2023 | — | Strong Smartprix |
| 2024 | 26 Sep 2024 | 27 Sep 2024 | 29 Oct 2024 | Confirmed Amazon newsroom |
| 2025 | 22 Sep 2025 | 23 Sep 2025 Sources disagree on the start. Amazon's newsroom confirms the sale ended 20 October. Affiliate coverage says it opened 23 September, while sale creative circulating as the 2025 guide shows "Starts 27th Sep, 26th Sep for Prime" - which matches 2024's dates exactly and may be reused 2024 artwork. We show the disputed value rather than pick one. |
20 Oct 2025 | Mixed Amazon newsroom (end date) + press (start date) |
| 2026 | expected | 2 Oct 2026 – 7 Oct 2026 | — | Weak Nopturnia estimate |
Nopturnia estimate. Amazon has not announced 2026 dates. The sale has opened in the last week of September in each of the last four years, and press reporting expects a 2-7 October window this year with the announcement around 20-23 September. Sharad Navratri 2026 begins 11 October, and the sale has consistently opened ahead of Navratri. Replace with the announced dates the moment Amazon publishes them.
06 Badge theatre
Amazon’s badge is computed against a list price the seller supplies, which is frequently far above anything the product has actually sold for. A 64% badge on an inflated list price and a real 3% cut look identical on a search page. We are an Amazon affiliate and earn from the links above, which is exactly why this section exists: publishing only the flattering half would make the first list worth nothing.
79% of the products Amazon is badging as deals right now — 1,309 of 1,657 we hold enough history for — are priced at or above their own 30-day average.
Of those, 454 sit at least 3% above it. Those are the ones worth showing; a product half a percent above its average is arithmetic, not a story. Checked 10 Sep 2026.

07 How we check
| Gate | Rule | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ours | Only products from a guide we have published | The catalogue is a scraped pool. If we have not researched a product we have no business recommending it in a sale. |
| Depth | At least 7 days of recorded prices | A handful of observations is not a history. “Lowest ever” on five days of data is a lie. |
| Real discount | Today’s price is below the product’s own 30-day average | Against our record, never against the MRP. This is the entire test. |
| Rank | By rupees saved, not by percentage | A 47% cut on a ₹759 screen protector is not a better deal than ₹4,000 off a phone you were going to buy. |
| Excluded | Out of stock, unpriced, or a price series that has gone stale | Silence beats a wrong number. A deal you cannot buy is not a deal. |
One limitation, stated before anyone else points it out: a long sale eventually pulls its own discounted prices into the 30-day average it is measured against, so three weeks in, a product that has been cheap the whole time stops looking cheap by this test. It is why the third call below is scored on the sale’s best day rather than its average.
Price history is the evidence here, not the point. Amazon publishes its own chart now and several trackers hold deeper data than we do. What none of them does is tell you which product to buy: every item on this page comes from a guide we wrote, tested and stand behind, and the price record is how we decide whether today is the day.
Amazon India added a 30- and 90-day price chart inside its shopping app in November 2025, reachable from under the price on a product page.
Where it stops: One product at a time, app only, and it does not tell you whether the product is worth buying.
Dedicated trackers hold far longer series than we do - 365 days against our 40 - plus price alerts and browser extensions. Their own Great Indian Festival analysis found 20% of products marked up before the sale and 73% genuinely beating prior prices.
Where it stops: They track everything and recommend nothing. A chart cannot tell you the cheaper laptop is the one to buy.
More on the general approach in how we test.
08 On the record, before the sale
A tracker that makes a dozen hedged predictions cannot be scored on any of them. This page makes exactly three, each falsifiable, each measured against data we publish. When the sale closes I will write down what actually happened next to what I said would happen — including the ones I get wrong, which is the only part that makes the rest worth reading.
The median discount among the deals published on this page will not exceed 25% below each product's own 30-day average at any point during the sale.
How it is measured: The median of the percentages shown on the cards above — each product's price against its own 30-day average — recomputed daily. Pinned to the list this page publishes rather than to the whole catalogue, so a reader can check it against what is actually on the page. Measured baseline on 3 September 2026, before the sale: 19.0%.
Scored against: Our own daily price record, against the highest daily median reached during the sale
The Great Indian Festival opens between 20 September and 10 October 2026.
How it is measured: A Nopturnia estimate, anchored on Navratri: the sale has opened in the run-up to Sharad Navratri in past years, and Sharad Navratri 2026 begins on 11 October. Deliberately a band rather than a date, because Amazon has announced nothing and a precise date here would be invented precision.
Scored against: Amazon's own announcement
Even at the deepest point of the Great Indian Festival, more than half of the products Amazon badges as deals will still be priced at or above their own 30-day average.
How it is measured: Share of catalogue rows carrying an Amazon deal badge whose current price is >= their own 30-day average, among rows with at least 7 days of history. Measured baseline on 3 September 2026, before the sale: 78.8% (1,304 of 1,654). Scored on the LOWEST daily share recorded across the sale, so the sale is judged at its best moment rather than its worst. Caveat stated on the page: a long sale pulls its own discounted prices into the 30-day average, which mechanically pushes rows back above it late in the window — this is why the call is scored on the minimum, not the mean. For context, Price History's own Great Indian Festival analysis reports 73% of products genuinely beating prior prices. That is not a contradiction - they measure against each product's recorded highs across a full year, we measure against a 30-day mean before the sale has started - but the two numbers answer different questions and ours should not be read as the whole picture.
Scored against: Our own daily price record plus Amazon's deal badges, on the day the sale closes

10 Kept honest
Rebuilt on the reference design: buy-or-wait calls by category, a sale-day playbook, the three biggest savings above the fold, confidence shown as signal bars, and readable product names instead of raw Amazon titles. #
Rebuilt the selection: products now come only from guides we have published, ranked by rupees saved rather than percentage. Added the sale mechanics, the dated edition history, and citations to Amazon's own price-history feature and the dedicated trackers. #
Tracker opened. Three calls logged before the sale: discount depth, opening window, and the share of badged deals that are not below their own 30-day average. #
Nopturnia earns a commission on purchases made through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products appear — that is decided by the price record before any link is written.
