Best Home Security Cameras and CCTV in India 2026 — indoor, outdoor and doorbell picks

Overview

A guard for your home, for the price of a dinner

A home security camera is the rare gadget that pays for itself in a single moment — a caught package thief, a checked-on parent, a deterred break-in. And in 2026 the barrier to entry has collapsed: a genuinely capable 2K camera with app alerts, night vision and two-way audio now costs less than ₹2,000, while 4MP colour-night-vision, 4G SIM and solar wire-free models handle everything from a nursery to a farmhouse gate.

This guide ranks thirteen cameras from ₹1,100 to ₹9,572 across five jobs: wired DVR CCTV, WiFi indoor, WiFi and 4G outdoor, video doorbells and solar wire-free — every one sold by Amazon’s own retail partner, not an importer. Kitting out a whole smart home? Pair these with our best WiFi routers so the cameras never drop off your network.

Why the brands changed: since India made STQC security certification mandatory for CCTV cameras, TP-Link Tapo, Xiaomi, Philips and eufy cameras have all but vanished from Amazon.in — what remains are importer listings with no stock and no Indian warranty. When we re-checked this guide on 7 October 2026, 14 of its 16 earlier picks had sold out or were left with only importers and third-party sellers, so the lineup is now built from certified brands that actually ship: CP Plus, Qubo, Godrej, Trueview, MANOMAY and Wipro.

Our Method

How we test & rank security cameras

Every camera here is scored on the five factors that decide whether it actually protects your home: image quality (resolution from 2MP to 4MP, plus how usable that footage is when you zoom in), night vision (basic IR black-and-white versus full-colour low-light), smart detection (does on-device AI tell a person from a passing cat and cut false alerts), storage and privacy (local microSD/DVR versus cloud, and crucially where that cloud lives), and build and placement — indoor pan-tilt, weatherproof IP65/IP67 outdoor, doorbell or wire-free solar.

Our rankings combine hands-on impressions, manufacturer specifications, India review-site consensus and thousands of verified owner reviews. We recheck pricing and availability at each update; this guide was last re-verified on 7 October 2026, when we replaced the 14 picks that had sold out or left Indian retail. Nopturnia earns an affiliate commission on qualifying purchases, but that never changes where a camera lands in these rankings.

4.5 / 5 ₹2,499

The camera we would put in most Indian homes. CP Plus is the country's biggest CCTV brand, and this 4MP (2560×1440) pan-tilt model reads faces and labels that 3MP cameras blur. It records locally to microSD, adds cry and human detection, and encrypts footage with CP Plus's Cyber Trusted Core.

Qubo Smart 360 Baby Monitor Cam

4.3 / 5 ₹2,850

The privacy pick, and the one built for a nursery. Qubo is Hero Group's Indian brand and hosts its cloud in India, so clips never leave the country. It also records to an SD card. The listing says 3MP 2K but quotes 2048×1080, closer to 2MP, so treat it as a sharp 1080p camera.

What to Look For

Indoor or Outdoor

Match the camera to the spot. Indoor cams are cheaper and pan-tilt; outdoor needs an IP65/IP67 weatherproof rating for monsoon and dust. Never put an indoor-only camera outside — the first rain ends it.

Resolution vs Storage

2MP is fine for a room view; 3MP 2K to read faces and labels; 4K for outdoor zoom-in detail. Remember: higher resolution fills your microSD card or cloud far faster, so size storage accordingly.

Where Footage Lives

Local microSD or DVR keeps footage in your house with no fee; cloud adds off-site backup but a possible subscription. If privacy matters, prefer local storage or an India-hosted brand like Qubo.

AI Person Detection

The feature that makes a camera usable. Edge AI tells a human from a tree, cat or car and only alerts you for what matters — without it you drown in false notifications and switch alerts off. Essential outdoors.

Night Vision Type

Basic IR gives black-and-white night footage; full-colour night vision (a spotlight or a starlight sensor) captures clothing and vehicle colour — far more useful for identifying anyone after dark. Worth paying up for outdoors.

Power & Wiring

Most cams need a nearby power socket. No outlet at that far gate or wall? A solar wire-free camera (like the Maizic solar 4G pick) solves it. Wired DVR cameras draw power over the same run as the video cable.

Explained

Types of home security cameras

“Security camera” covers six quite different products. Here's what each type does, and the spot it is built for.

Indoor pan-tilt WiFi

The best-selling type (CP Plus, Qubo, Godrej, MANOMAY): 360° rotating cameras for living rooms, nurseries and shops. Cheap, easy, app-controlled — where most first-time buyers should start.

Outdoor weatherproof WiFi

IP65/IP66-rated cams (Trueview bullet, CP Plus 4MP pan-tilt) built to survive monsoon, sun and dust while watching a gate, driveway or shopfront. No WiFi out there? A 4G SIM model (MANOMAY Protect Pro) streams over the mobile network instead.

Wired DVR/NVR CCTV

The traditional multi-camera system (CP Plus bullet): cameras cabled to a recorder box with a hard drive. More install effort, but rock-solid, cloud-free and the standard for whole-house or commercial coverage.

Video doorbells

Cameras that replace your doorbell (Qubo, Wipro) and ring to your phone as a video call, so you screen visitors and couriers from anywhere. The most useful single upgrade for a front door.

Wire-free solar

Battery cameras with a solar panel (Maizic solar 4G) that need no power cable at all — the only way to cover a spot with no socket, like a far boundary wall or terrace corner. Less proven than mains-powered cameras, but genuinely install-anywhere.

Baby & pet monitors

Indoor cams tuned for watching people and pets (Qubo baby monitor, CP Plus with cry detection): auto-tracking, cry/sound alerts and India-hosted or local storage so the footage of your family stays private.

Under the Hood

How security camera specs really work

Camera boxes shout megapixels and throw around acronyms — IP65, edge AI, PTZ, starlight. Here is what each actually means for keeping your home safe.

Resolution: MP, 2K, 4K and the zoom test

Megapixels (2MP, 3MP, 4MP) describe how much detail the sensor captures; 2K and 4K are marketing shorthands roughly matching 3MP and 8MP. The number that matters is whether you can zoom into recorded footage and still read something useful — a face, a number plate. 2MP shows “a person was here”; 3MP identifies them up close; 4K lets you crop into a wide outdoor scene after the fact. But higher resolution multiplies storage use, so it is a balance, not a race.

Night vision: IR versus full colour

Cheaper cameras use infrared (IR) LEDs to see in the dark — effective, but the image is black-and-white, so you lose the colour of clothing or a vehicle. Full-colour night vision uses either a built-in spotlight or a highly sensitive starlight sensor to keep colour after dark. For identifying a person or car at night — the whole point outdoors — colour night vision is a real, worthwhile upgrade.

Edge AI, PTZ and IP ratings

Edge AI means the camera’s own chip analyses the video locally to distinguish a human from an animal or moving branch, so you only get meaningful alerts (and it works even if the internet drops). PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) is the motor that lets a camera sweep 360° and follow movement. IP ratings grade dust and water resistance: IP65 handles rain and jets, IP67 adds temporary submersion — anything outdoors needs at least IP65 to survive an Indian monsoon.

Storage, cloud and the privacy question

Footage lives in one of three places. A microSD card in the camera or a DVR/NVR hard drive keeps everything local — free, private, but lost if the device is stolen. The cloud backs up off-site (safe from theft) but may cost a subscription and, critically, sits on the brand’s servers — which is why data location matters. Qubo hosting in India, and the microSD-first design of the CP Plus, Godrej and MANOMAY picks, are direct answers to the worry about home footage sitting on a foreign server. Decide your storage and privacy stance before the resolution.

Our Recommendation

The best all-rounder is the
CP Plus 4MP CP-E45Q

If we had to pick just one: the CP Plus CP-E45Q is the camera we would put in most Indian homes — sharp 4MP video, full 360° coverage, human and cry detection, two-way audio and free microSD recording, from India’s biggest CCTV brand. But every camera here wins its own spot:

  • › Whole-house wired CCTV: CP Plus 2.4MP bullet on a DVR
  • › Privacy-first: Qubo baby monitor / 4MP — India-hosted servers
  • › Best value outdoor: Trueview 3MP bullet — IP66, colour at night
  • › Front door: Qubo Video Doorbell Pro 2K — rings to your phone
  • › No WiFi at the site: MANOMAY Protect Pro 4G — runs on a SIM
  • › No power socket: Maizic 5MP Solar 4G — solar wire-free

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

WiFi cameras (CP Plus, Qubo, Godrej, most picks here) install in minutes, need no cabling, and stream to your phone — perfect for renters and one-to-three-camera homes. Wired CCTV with a DVR/NVR (the CP Plus bullet) means running cables to a recorder box, but it never drops connection, does not depend on your broadband, and stores everything locally on a hard drive — the right choice for a whole-house or shop system of four-plus cameras, or anywhere WiFi is unreliable. Many homes end up mixing both: WiFi cams indoors, a wired system covering the perimeter.
It is a real consideration. Cloud-connected cameras upload clips and alerts to the brand’s servers, and where those servers sit matters. Qubo (Hero Group) explicitly hosts data on servers in India, which is the safest answer if you are uneasy about home footage leaving the country. CP Plus, Godrej, MANOMAY and Trueview let you avoid the cloud almost entirely by recording to a local microSD card with no subscription — the footage simply never leaves your house. Wired DVR systems are fully local by design. If privacy is a priority, choose local storage or an India-hosted brand.
For a general indoor view (is someone in the room, is the baby okay), 2MP/1080p is fine. Step up to 3MP/2K (MANOMAY, Godrej, Trueview) if you want to identify faces or read a delivery label — the most popular sweet spot. Go 4MP or higher (CP Plus 4MP, Qubo 4MP) for outdoor or large areas where you may need to zoom into a recording later and still read a number plate or a face at distance. Beyond 4K adds little for home use and eats storage fast.
Older cameras alerted on any motion — a swaying plant, headlights, a cat — and buried you in useless notifications until you turned alerts off entirely. AI (or "edge") person detection runs on the camera’s own chip to tell a human apart from a branch, animal or passing car, and only pings you for what matters. It is the single feature that makes a security camera actually usable day-to-day, and every smart pick here includes some form of it. For a busy street-facing or outdoor camera, treat it as essential.
No — and you should check before buying. Most cameras here record to a local microSD card (CP Plus, Godrej, MANOMAY, Trueview) with no ongoing fee. Cloud plans are optional extras that add off-site backup and longer history, useful if you worry a thief could steal the camera and its card; the Qubo Doorbell Pro includes a year of cloud. The mistake is assuming every camera has a card slot — some newer Qubo models record only to the cloud (we left those out), and 4G cameras also need a mobile data plan, so read the listing.
India now requires CCTV cameras sold in the country to pass STQC security certification, which tests things like secure boot, encrypted video and firmware updates. Since the rule took effect, TP-Link Tapo, Xiaomi, Philips and eufy cameras have largely disappeared from Amazon.in; the listings that remain are overseas importers with no stock and no Indian warranty. Certified brands such as CP Plus, Qubo, Godrej, Trueview and MANOMAY now fill the shelves, and most say "STQC certified" in the listing title. If you already own a Tapo or eufy camera it keeps working; the rule covers new sales.
